Spent the night in Lee Vining, so I could feast on a lunch and a dinner at the Whoa Nellie Deli (in the Mobil station). Really good food, reasonable prices, friendly employees as well. The lower gravel parking lot is still OK for overnight parking, and it gets quite a bit of traffic during the summer. [I was here in May while Tioga Pass was still closed, and I was the only overnighter then. This visit: almost a dozen rigs.]

Got up early to grab a coffee, and headed up the last few miles in to Yosemite. Very quiet here, nobody around, since all the facilities got destroyed over a brutal winter and they are rebuilding for the next year or two. But, the granite cliffs and domes are still here. I climbed part way up Lembert Dome but of course I forgot water and sunscreen and — oh! — climbing gear, ’cause that’s just how I roll, and so I didn’t make it past the first bolt hanger. It was glinting at me in the sun, calling me higher on the cliff face, but it will have to be another time.
Nice views of the meadows and mountains, though!
