Deedius here, reporting live from the hick wilds of a Walmart parking lot in Tehachapi (southern California). One might ask, what the <beep> are you doing in a Walmart? Or, why are you in Tehachapi? Or, where TF is Tehachapi, anyway? All very good questions, but none of that matters right now.
Because, I had the fantastic fortuitous fate to meet this person:

And yes, I was giddy and delirious and talked too much and asked too many questions, and she was the sweetest and most gracious one could imagine when dealing with one of her millions of fans.
Wait … she? Uh, yeah, OK, so it was not some dude eating chicken and wiping his raid. It was a lovely petite young woman — maybe 30ish — and a WoW player since Vanilla just before Burning Crusade. [Sound familiar, anyone?] She cringed a little when I asked which faction, and said, “Alliance.” She put her hands up in embarrassment, but we got a good laugh about it ’cause Hordies are dicks and she was happy to finally meet a decent human being who could appreciate her game and not yell stupid shit about the Horde like they always do.
And, yes!, she had seen the new cinematic with Anduin holding his sword in an Arthas (as The Lich King) pose and we tossed ideas back and forth about where the game is going. No spoilers to reveal from that conversation, however.
Alas, she doesn’t play much these days. Dabbling in FFXIV a little, but life has gotten in the way of being obsessive-compulsive about a game. I’m not convinced that excuse (“life”) is a valid reason, but it happens to the best of us.
And you know what, it was super cool to meet someone so charismatic and engaging. For a young person, she had it going on and I hope beyond hope that she played on Rexxar and was active in a guild named Acid Reign at some point* ’cause she was that kind of friendly and approachable person, and my guess is she’s the same way in game.
WoW is life.
See you in game!
*I forgot to ask.
